The Chinese Language

I've been studying Mandarin Chinese at varying and sometimes negative rates for the past few years. Relative to English, it's an interesting language in a lot of ways. On the surface, it is very different, but it's often difficult to pin down which of these differences are only superficial and which ones extend more deeply.
