Resources for Learning Chinese
Your best bet for studying Chinese is to go to a Chinese-speaking country and
practice what you study -- there are Chinese language schools in many major
cities in mainland China as well as a few in Taipei and Hong Kong. But if
you're not able to go quite that far at the moment, there are a few sites
around the web useful for computer-using Chinese learners...
combination site with news, cultural, and miscellaneous information in
addition to computing information and tools
- ftp://crl.nmsu.edu/CLR/multiling/chinese/ --
the Chinese
ftp directory of the New Mexico State University Computing Research Lab
multilingual project -- a good source of fonts and datafiles
-
http://technology.chtsai.org/ --
more info on Chinese computing,
especially on word composition and frequency data
- Chinese pod --
online community and various resources
for learning Chinese learning
an excellent site with an online dictionary organized by component (not
radical) with a very nice visual interface, lots of information about
character construction, and much more...
Finally, Hanzi Master,
or Hanzim, is a program I developed to help in remembering
Chinese characters.
